National Poetry Council is a leading organization of poets of Bangladesh. Dhananjay Ghosal, Editor Balaka was invited by them this year and he went to Bangladesh to attend National Poetry Festival 2009, organized by them. 23rd edition of this festival was held at Dhaka University Campus from 18th to 20th February 2009. |

The festival was inaugurated by Syed Samsul Hak, the eminent poet of Bangladesh. The proceedings started with a mass procession participated by innumerable member of poets, littérateurs and poetry lovers of Bangladesh along with the Indian poets who were invited by the committee. In the floral homage were offered and placed on the memorials of Kazi Nazrul Islam and other eminent personalities and the procession headed towards the grand 'Ekushe' memorial. After offering due homage and regards there the crowd returned to the festival arena. |

Poet Aslam Sani, President Habibullah Siraji, Secretary Golam Kibria Pinu, Convener Rabiul Hussain and poet Mohan Rayan, the theme composer of 2009 festival addressed to the people in the festival. Poets, Editors and poetry lovers from all over Bangladesh were present during the three days of festival. The lectures and readings of Belal Chowdhury, Rafique Azad, Tarik Sujat, Rabindra Gop and others were valuable additions to the festival programme. Poets invited from West Bengal this year were Partha Raha, Bithi Chattopadhyay, Pinaki Thakur, Sibasis Mukhopadhyay, Sidhartha Sinha and Dhananjay Ghosal editor Balaka. Apart from them Sidhartha Banerji from Mumbai, Sankha Subhra Devbarman from Agartala Goutam Dutta and Samim Reza from USA. |

In the poetry reading session Dhananjay, after a brief speech read 'Bangla Amar', the poetry he passionately wrote with a longing of a bridge bondage of language between two Bengals, east and west. Again at the noon of 20th February Dhananjay read his poetry marked 'Letter-15’ from his collection 'Tomake Megher Chithi', which is already been translated in English by poet Amit Chakrabarti. |

On the last day of the festival painters also performed aside poetry reading session. Daliya, an eminent painter presented Dhananjay one of her paintings created during this session. In the mean time Dhananjay also attended the Book Fair held at Bangla Academy arena and met with the publishers and other writers there. Among the poets-editors-publishers-novelists he met some of the notable persons were Rokan Johor, Sharifa Bulbul, Md. Shahadat Hossian, Kayser Ahmed, Asgar Bhai alike. The literary relation was expanded when he met eminent research scholars like Abul ahasn Chowdhury and Muntasir Mamoon who were already known to him through the works of Balaka. |

At the midnight of 20th, when the digital clock read 00.00.00 of 21st February Dhananjay got ready, went out and moved towards the 'Ekushe Memorial' to pay his deepest homage to the heroes of his living dear language. And he found a huge number of people and organizations who were also present there for the same reason. Dhananjay felt proud and behold this golden moment in his memory that he will cherish for ever. Dhananjay returned the next day with a permanent goodish and respect in his mind to the literature-loving people Bangladesh. |
